After the fifth week, Gautama achieved enlightenment
he understood the roots of suffering and saw that to avoid it
one had to reach a state of desirelessness.
So he became Buddha, the one who is released from all suffering
and from the cycle of reincarnation.
Buddha was faced with a choice.
Either he could enter nirvana, the undisturbed condition of supreme consciousness, and leave this world, or, renouncing personal deliverance for the moment,he could show the way to his fellow humans.
